The Mid & Upper Sacramento River Region has released a new innovative web-based training program called the Just-In-Time Training Program, which is designed to provide essential training to flood emergency response personnel just prior to, and during a flood emergency event. The Just-in-Time Training program is a product of the Mid-Upper Sacramento River Regional Flood Emergency Response Project (MUSR FERP). The MUSR FERP was led by Reclamation District 108 and funded through a $1.2M Proposition 84 grant awarded by the California Department of Water Resources.
Emergency Levee Worker Course was designed to provide essential training for flood emergency levee workers just prior to, and during a flood emergency event. The course is composed of five modules with training videos lasting approximately 4-6 minutes. The modules are based on the California Department of Water Resources’ Levee Threat Monitoring Guidelines and Flood Fight Methods course, the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS). The website can be accessed from a desktop computer or mobile device in the field. The hope is that the Emergency Levee Worker Course will be just the first in an entire suite of Just-In-Time training courses, with additional courses being developed as funding becomes available.
